The company differentiates in the market by running its own network, not dealing in ‘up to’ figures in terms of internet speed, and ensuring that it delivers whatever speed it says it can provide. The speed is assured and a speed level is guaranteed.
EXA acknowledges that its product is relatively expensive, but it does provide high quality. Having said that, it is sometimes half the cost of local authority internet provision. This means schools can sometimes increase internet speed by two or three times, at half the cost of what the local authority could provide.
The company has designed and built its own filtering system, with support staff in the North of England managing the filtering as well as operation of internet connections.
Although many of EXA’s contracts are operated on a three-year basis, where a school has a fibre connection EXA is prepared to provide a one-year contract, which allows more flexibility.
The company’s product is readily available. The only issue that can slow down the purchase and installation process is if a school is in a geographical area where there is no fibre connection. If there is not a BT line, EXA will put a new line in for the school. If there are no problems with infrastructure, then the connection can be set up very quickly indeed.
There are 3,000 schools in the UK using EXA broadband. Added to this, the company has a 98% customer retention rate. These statistics bear witness to EXA Education’s success.
